The surprize star

Today we watched a video clip for writing. This is my writing

"Hey granddad it's time to go" I yelled. We were  leaving the old farm house for good. By the way my name is Earwig. We were going exploring to live on an undiscovered colourful island.I wept as we left farmer John alone and in charge of the farm.As we sailed the rocky seven seas I miserably threw up over the side of the boat.:( The moon was slowly rising as I  sleepily murmured "are we there yet?" "no Earwig" whispered my grandfather.Then suddenly crash... we were stranded.

Granddad knew this would be the place to live permanently."wow" There was almost a million stars on the soft sand. I gasped as  a star landed in the pile I touched the bright star."ohhh" "ahh" I said as it shimmed brightly
under the moonlight. Then another one came shooting down and then another and another.One by one."Hello my friends" said an odd voice."Welcome too super crazy fun resort"."the stars are really wooden things we use for throwing". "we should be on our way" said grandfather."can we stay for just tonight?" I whined."fine" said grandpa. "good" said the owner of the hotel.After our stay we set once more to a deserted island.

Fiji

You will not believe how fun Fiji is! I got to see ice age 4 continental drift.I got to sleep in two different rooms.The first room was the room that my mum slept in. the second room was my cousins room.Is it cold in new Zealand?It is warmish in Fiji. The water is cold.I miss room 7. I can not wait to come back.Tomorrow I am going to beachcomber island. Horrayyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How we make chocolate

Chocolate has been made since ancient times.

First a white flower of the cacao tree gets pollinated by a insect called a midge.Next a fruit pod grows for 6 months.When the pod is ripe you open it and get the cacao seeds from inside the pod. Then you leave the seeds in a box to ferment for a few weeks.After that you put them in the sun for around 3 weeks.After 3 weeks roast the seeds for 30 mins.Next ground the seeds until the seeds are just a powder.Add sugar to the powder .Then you melt the grounded chocolate and you stir. Finally spoon it into a mould and put it in the fridge to set.

That is  how you make chocolate.

Winter fun

When it's winter I like to wear soft gloves to keep me toasty warm.
When it's winter I like to go skiing to have some cold fun.
When it's winter I like to drink hot milo when I'm thirsty.

One Tuesday night

It was a late Tuesday night. I was fast asleep on my lily pad in the icy cold pond when suddenly I was drifting gracefully! Me,  Terence toad in mid air!"I can't believe it!" Luckily I had my beloved lily pad with me for good luck. I was amused when my friends joined me!

   The night sky was pitch black. we went past farmer bills house and then we sort of got caught up in his clean washing! we went soaring through granny Alice's spooky house."I'm scared" I whimpered. Alice was snoring loudly with the telly on. I decided  to watch the exiting toads on ice. After I got to see the end of the show I found myself slowly drifting through the window.

We swooped out The window and immediately started plummeting down and I was down on the ground. I had to leave my beloved lily pad behind.It was time to let go  anyway . "Boo Hoo" I cried. :( . We hopped home and caught a near sight of a detective holding my lily pad!(I know it was mine because I scratched a capital t on it). The detective was examining the pads seriously with the police!I strained my ears so I could hear  the detective speaking too the police  and saying that he would get rid of the pond  and the frogs!!!!!!!!!!!!! "NNNNooooooooooooo"!!!!!!!!!!!!! I yelled. The detective decided that he had had enough and went home.Eventually I got over it and went to bed.

The next Tuesday night at exactly 7:58 Pm  my friends the pigs did   the exact same thing at the exact same time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Weird????????????... The Tuesday night after that at 8:02 the cows were flying like there was no tomorrow! Awkward!

How we hear sound

This is a diagram of the ear. I will now tell you how sound travels through the ear. First something makes a sound and creates sound waves. Next the sound travels past the pinna (the big flappy thing) and through the ear canal.Third of all the sound waves hit the ear drum. Next it goes through the ossicles and it is no longer a sound wave. It goes through the cochlea and sends a messege to the brain. Don't worry about the yellow thing because nobody knows what it is!

My mini speech

This is a video of my mini speech. I did well with using gestures and using eye contact. I need to work on speaking in a loud clear voice so the audience can hear me. Hope you like it!

My reading book review

Lately I have been reading bridge to teribethia. Bridge to terabethia is about a boy called jess and a girl called Leslie. I found it interesting that Jess  likes to paint. I don't understand why Jess and Leslie made up teribethia in the first place.

My maths goal

My maths goal is to learn my 6x and 7x tables. I can achieve this by using my 5x tables to solve the problem.

6x7=42
(6x5=30)+(6x2=12)

My next goal is to recall these times tables quickly.

Exploring sound

Room7`s  topic for term 2 is exploring sound.
I already know...

1. sound travels in vibrating waves
2. sound is measured in decibels
3. lots of different things make lots of different sounds

I would like to know ... why does sound exist?
