My maths problem

1. There were 6 flowers. Each flower had 11 petals on it. How many petals were there all together?
2. There were 7 christmas trees. Each tree had 6 decorations on it. How many decorations were there all together?
3. Alice had a spotted dress. Her dress had 10 green spots 2 blue spots 3 pink spots. How many spots were there all together?

How we hear sound

This is a diagram of the ear. I will now tell you how sound travels through the ear. First something makes a sound and creates sound waves. Next the sound travels past the pinna (the big flappy thing) and through the ear canal.Third of all the sound waves hit the ear drum. Next it goes through the ossicles and it is no longer a sound wave. It goes through the cochlea and sends a messege to the brain. Don't worry about the yellow thing because nobody knows what it is!

My mini speech

This is a video of my mini speech. I did well with using gestures and using eye contact. I need to work on speaking in a loud clear voice so the audience can hear me. Hope you like it!

My reading book review

Lately I have been reading bridge to teribethia. Bridge to terabethia is about a boy called jess and a girl called Leslie. I found it interesting that Jess  likes to paint. I don't understand why Jess and Leslie made up teribethia in the first place.

My maths goal

My maths goal is to learn my 6x and 7x tables. I can achieve this by using my 5x tables to solve the problem.

6x7=42
(6x5=30)+(6x2=12)

My next goal is to recall these times tables quickly.

Exploring sound

Room7`s  topic for term 2 is exploring sound.
I already know...

1. sound travels in vibrating waves
2. sound is measured in decibels
3. lots of different things make lots of different sounds

I would like to know ... why does sound exist?

ANZAC day

On the 25th of April each year it is ANZAC day.
I researched that :

• The ANZAC'S were the Australian and New Zealand soldiers.
• The place where ANZACS landed was later renamed ANZAC cove
• ANZAC biscuits were invented nearly 100 years ago

I hope you have learnt lots from my 3 facts.

Term 1 Reflection

This term I have enjoyed swimming because I learnt how to swim freestyle correctly. I also enjoyed the house fun day because I was in the house that won the shield. I am proud of how well I can recall my times tables.

My goals for next term are:

• getting to school faster
• finishing work on time

My caves poster

This is my poster to remind people how to look after caves.

I did well with giving out a clear and unique measge. I need to work on making my poster neater.

My ICT Challenge

My room 14 buddy and I said the maori phrase of the week. I think I did well with looking at my buddy the whole time. I need to work on speaking louder so the flip can hear me.

Crystal flower experiment

On Tuesday the class started making crystal flowers. I touched mine after two days and the paper towel felt hard. I think it felt hard becuase the salt water has dried up.

We filled our container with salty water that was coloured with dye.

Glowworm presentation

I presented my glowworm facts to the class.Here is a video of my presentation.I think I did well with eye contact. I still need to work on speaking louder so the audience can hear me.

Pop art

This is my pop art. It took a long time to finish but I did it. We used lots of diferent techniques to do it properly. We had to smudge and do careful light lines. I achieved my pop art when I had done these.

My glowworm facts

2.glowworms use thier light to atract other insects


3.there is so many types of glowworms but we only have one in New Zealand


4.a glowworm is a larvae of a two winged insect.

Waitomo caves trip

On tuesday 6th of march the middle syndicate went to wiatomo caves. My favourite part was the classroom that was there because we learnt all about caves and limestone.

Managers

I am learning to be a powerful manager of my learning and behaviour.
I can acheive this by always tidying up after myself.

Swimming reflection

In swimming I can swim freestyle with breathing well. I need to work on my breaststroke by practising at home in my pool. I also achieve this by moving my legs correctly and increase my fitness because I always get tired.
